If you have to pick up your child during the day, please notify the Camp Director. Once we are aware of your arrival time, we can arrange to have your camper ready for you. Please note that no child will be released to ANYONE without written permission.

Jewish Content:  Children will participate in daily tefillah, make brachot, learn midot and have a weekly Shabbat party.

Group Size:  Each bunk will have approximately sixteen children and will be staffed by a head counselor, an assistant counselor and as many junior staff as necessary for maximum coverage. Each group will have a least one staff member trained in CPR and First Aid.

Staff:  Our head counselors all have experience working in early childhood programs..  All of the assistant counselors will be ages 18 or older and live locally.

Communication with Staff:  The Camp Director can be reached by cell phone throughout the camp day. A call to the Camp Director will answer most questions. Because counselors are constantly supervising groups and activities, if you need to speak to your child’s counselor, you may leave your name and evening phone number with the Camp Director and the counselor will return your call as soon as possible.

Special Activities
We offer nature, music, art, and movement, among many other fun activities.

Start Date:  Camp will IY”H begin on Wednesday June 28, 2017 until Friday August 18, 2017.  We will have a short camper orientation on Tuesday July 4, 2017.  There will not be camp on Tuesday July 4 or on Tisha B'Av, Tuesday, August 1.

Food Matters:  Children will be provided with two snacks each day.  Children are to bring their own pareve or dairy lunch.  An optional lunch program will be available at an additional cost.

Swim Instruction: We offer swim instruction for the 4 and 5 year old groups and it has been very successful. The children board buses to swim at a beautiful, clean local pool where they have approximately a one hour long swim lesson, a minimum of twice a week, with professional, warm instructors.  The children learn a lot and have a wonderful time. The swimming pool is supervised at all times by certified life guards.  There is no additional cost for the swim instruction program.

My name is Yosifa Book and I am the director of Camp Ashreinu.

I have a Bachelors degree from Yeshiva University and a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College. I have more than ten years of experience as a classroom teacher and an additional ten years of experience as director of Camp Ashreinu.

When I first moved to Bergen County, I sent my young children to a backyard day camp for the summer. I was not very satisfied with the safety of the children in unfenced backyards, out in the suffocating heat for many hours a day. I also found that there was not a great diversity of activity. And so, Camp Ashreinu was born. Everything at Camp Ashreinu was established with my own children in mind. The camp’s key elements are (1) a safe, secure and nurturing, environment, (2) a structured, educational program and (3) warm and experienced staff.

Thank you for considering Camp Ashreinu.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me.
